Firecracker – Frail

Last night a friend of mine posted a clip of Hatebreed, captioned “East Coast Hardcore” and i posted this video in reply.

I don’t know if it was stupid to do so or not. It wasn’t meant to better him, to offer a more venerable and… cultivated option, to say “you’re music is dumb, here’s what i think is superior”. No. He very well may not think Frail an antithesis to that at all, let alone Hatebreed its thesis. I don’t know why i did it. It was just to get Frail out of my head and perhaps into another’s (or to whatever effect), as an opportunity arose. Is Philadelphia even considered East Coast?

Firecracker – Frail

From “please, stop wait”, then “don’t send me…” with the guitars going from that odd, dumb, maybe atonal melody, to palm muting, to those chords not placed anywhere else in the song, playing something seemingly alien, to “down!” and the outro. Cue goosebumps on arms, if i weren’t already huddled over, hand on chest, in an emo pose probably deserving of any ridicule handed to it. Yet its a reaction so involuntary, so compelled, that there is a reason why it is seen as the habitual emo dance. Fuck yes. This song makes me want to buy a china cymbal.

I’m still not sure what my voice sounds like. If it is as high as what i think it is i’d like very much if it sounded anywhere near Eric Hammer’s. I have this horrible feeling i sound more like Modigliana from The Ferals, though.
