Sorry But I

Sorry but i – C-Real

What ever happened to this song? One cool as heck video, one day that the internet gushed over it, and now it and all momentum and enthusiasm for it seems to have disappeared. Who’d know it ever happened? Was it even promoted? Was it even intended to be promoted? A danceless, vocal song with a different kind of video would have needed a different kind of stage – a stage everyone involved simply didn’t want to put forth to the world. Wimps. Maybe this is just a nice stopgap of a song, to remind us C-Real exist and will be back soon to show us a new side of them so please anticipate or whatever it is that they all say. It’s a pity if this song was decided lesser or not in line with something desirable to promote. I was so swept up in it.

Sorry But I

Sorry but i – C-Real

I don’t think their name is pronounced “Cereal”. I think it is “See Real” and strives for some deeper meaning in that. I don’t think this song is out yet. The video was released yesterday, and is so refreshingly different from every other K-pop video i can’t help but love it. A story is told. No dancing except for the ballet of doomed fatalism and uncertainty that draws them away and then back to the boy. Disquiet of the heart and living with it. It’s pretty dark. The final unresolved looks to the camera, the storm kept inside. It’s not feigned cute, ignorant, 몰라 몰라 몰라 (though they still painfully 몰라), agency-less girl pop; it’s the story and voice and condition of a young girl in a relationship, told by her, existing for her. There’s nothing wrong with the former, but there’s a heck of a lot more right with the latter. The song even has harmonies. Good work, everyone.
