Come on! Feel the Illinoise! – Sufjan Stevens

Yeah, good song. How is Sufjan Stevens going with his 50 works inspired by 50 states endeavour? Did he himself even state such a mission or am i going off poor, vaunted intelligence? Has he even released anything subsequent to this album? I haven’t heard anything since. Nothing of the same impact anyway. Maybe i’m just in the wrong circles now to realise. People need to talk about music to me more. Friends, strangers, etc.

Come on! Feel the Illinoise! – Sufjan Stevens

Thanks a lot, Alex, now i have it stuck in my head. I freely admit to liking him, even though much of my knowledge of him and his music comes from others – party music, car stereos, etc. This is probably my favourite song of his i’ve heard and remembered. I love how it moves from part to part, each new place to take this song, that Vince Guaraldi Peanuts piano playing throughout.

It reminds me of drives home. Last night’s drive home will from now be linked to this song (or Poundsign), probably. But it reminds me, with greater nostalgia and poignancy, of drives home from the orchard with Nick in his car. Not saying a word, the music he played had my greatest attention and had its greatest effect. I listened intently – to get through the silence, to maybe find conversation points in the music. I hate being a quiet person. So much.

BORN IN FLAMES!!!!!!!!!!!
