Philadelphia – Standard Fare

I’m going to have to wait a year to see you again in Philadelphia.” I’m sorry. I’m not much fun. I’m incredibly down. All songs of longing and distance cut acutely, even the most jump-around-the-room-top-of-lungs-singing joyous ones. I guess this song was always a sad one, i just never noticed. Never could feel it personally. Never dreamed i would. A year. Six months. Unless i find a big bag of money somehow, someday, somewhere. I’m not much fun.

Philadelphia – Standard Fare

What a difference strong vocals make, especially in a type of music known for it’s softness, shying away from being ever this confident. Everything becomes louder to catch up with her. The drums crash, the guitars are strummed so hard. It’s as though the whole band figured out on their own, together, that they could play loudly and how great that novel concept would sound on tape. All triggered by Emma’s vocals.
