Postcard – Liechtenstein

I’d love to send a postcard like this. Over the years i’ve pretty much posted the entire of Survival Strategies In A Modern World by chance, so it is with the most excitement i expect to carry all this year that i await the release of their new album. I’ll have new Liechtenstein songs to swoon over and colour my life with. The band has changed somewhat in two years – adding a new member, becoming cooler – but it is in my number one fan opinion that their preview single Meantime might be the best thing they’ve ever done. Excited i am. I love having the faith that some bands will never disappoint me.

Wallpaper stripes – Liechtenstein

This is the sound of an ocean – a churning, heaving ocean. An ocean that meets nothing but rocks and cliffside, with a lone figure on top, all below reflecting all within. That’s it to me. The way the verse loops around seemingly when it wants to. It sounds like it should have a Bonnie Tyler thunderstorm dubbed on to it. I am not sure where the wallpaper stripes fit into this vision, but one’s stormy clifftop can be anywhere.

By staying here – Liechtenstein

A year down the line update to say my love for this band and this album has not waned one bit. And also to say that my altruistic efforts to turn anyone i can on to Liechtenstein have on every occasion fallen so completely flat it will take some time before i gain the confidence in my own music taste to offer anything to anyone again. And finally to say that they released a new single a few months ago, Passion For Water, and it’s great, and it’s keeping my love of this band and tenuous grasp on new music afloat. Please tour here.

The End

The end – Liechtenstein

In the tradition of gentle, lovely, lifting, lullaby-like album closing songs, this is a recent favourite. It is a really wonderful way to put an end to things – to say goodbye, forever or for just a while. In this case forever. Maybe it’s a routine and methodic way to finish an album, but who cares. From the Beach Boy’s Surf’s Up to I Can’t Get Over You by the Queers, i think it’s my favourite way, and the way that keeps with me the most. Those extra harmony lines that take you higher and higher, into greater and greater bliss or melancholy, and… yeah.

I wore my shirt out yesterday. I didn’t see them, but i saw someone in their entourage on the train. I doubt they took notice of me or my shirt at all.

Postcard – Liechtenstein

My Liechtenstein shirt came in the mail yesterday. Confusing and inconsistent international clothe sizing means it’s a little big, but, still, onward to being the coolest guy in town. There could be a problem, though, if i wear it outside. I sent my useless, but remiss of a record label now to not include it, mp3 download card of Survival Strategies in a Modern World anonymously through the mail to someone in town i judged, through stalking, might like it. If they see me in my shirt, two and two will be put together and i’ll be exposed. Maybe that’s not such a bad thing, but i don’t really want it to happen.
