All the umbrellas in London – The Magnetic Fields
I think the songs that appear here in the coming days will all be from that stack of records i picked up on the weekend as i work through them. I’ve never owned a Magnetic Fields record before. I’ve never been able to. I’m not sure the albums were ever released on vinyl. I don’t know why. From recently acquired experience, it sounds so right to listen to them this way, although that may be due to my record player being the only decent equipment i have to play music on.
For a band like the Magnetic Fields, from whom i could take any song from any album and listen to them in any order, a single song on one side of a 7″ record is the best way to have them. Pulling the record out, “This is what i want to listen to.” Now if i only had more than two of their singles. If they only released more than five.
