Don’t look away – The Magnetic Fields
Again with the Magnetic Fields?! This was at one time one of my lesser considered songs of theirs. It was disposable, something i’d always skip. It’s a measure of personal growth and my absolute engagement with the finer things in art and life that i came to my senses, realising it is one of their very best. It’s such a haunting, beautiful song. A dreamlike waltz, danced alone with arms outstretched in desperate but resigned hope of someone filling them, sung over a really well crafted loop you can tell he’s proud of because he let’s it play alone, showcased, for those few seconds after the song has finished.
